Clare Gasson: Living with Make: Art in the Archive

Overview

As the recipient of the Living with Make: Art in the Archive Bursary 2011, Clare Gasson presents The River, a performance consisting of a multi-layered text piece sung by six musicians and vocalists.

Artist Clare Gasson has written and directed The River, an event which accompanies her exhibition based on the exploration of the Women's Art Library archive. The main text is made up of all the artists' names in The Women's Art Library from the early 1970s to the present. The structure looks to Cage, Reich, Medieval poetry and composition. 

Organised by the Women’s Art Library/Make and Feminist Review in collaboration with the SLG. This event is supported by Arts Council England and the Elephant Trust.
